Commonly referred to as a nose job, rhinoplasty is cosmetic surgery that improves the appearance of the nose. But did you know that there are several kinds of rhinoplasty? Open and closed rhinoplasty both enhance your nose, but they differ in the way they are performed and the issues they address.
All surgical rhinoplasty procedures address such fundamental issues with the nose as
●Proportions relative to the face.
●Overall shape.
●Width at the base.
●Nostril size.
●Symmetry.
Rhinoplasty treatments differ, however, in the specific techniques used to meet these goals.
Open rhinoplasty is relatively invasive in that it requires incisions to the outside of the nose. The advantage, however, is that this affords Dr. Mashhadian a complete view of the structure of your nose and permits correction of a wide spectrum of issues. Almost any issue can be corrected with open rhinoplasty.
Closed rhinoplasty, on the other hand, requires only internal incisions. The advantages are that there is no visible scarring and that the recovery time is shorter than for open rhinoplasty. However, because of the limited field of view available to your surgeon, this procedure is best suited to minor adjustments than it is to total makeovers of the nose. As always, Dr. Mashhadian will treat your case individually to help you choose the procedure that is best for you.
Whether you need open or closed rhinoplasty, a nose job offers excellent results that will improve your appearance and boost your confidence.
