At Rodeo Surgical Art, we are a compassionate and caring practice. We are available to answer your questions about the cosmetic surgery procedures because we want our Los Angeles area patients to make informed decisions about their procedures.
What is otoplasty?
Otoplasty, also known as ear surgery, is a procedure in which the ears are brought into proper alignment with the rest of the head. Dr. Mashhadian can use otoplasty to reshape ears and produce a more pleasing aesthetic.
What is otoplasty generally used for?
Otoplasty is often used to correct ears that are too large or that protrude from the skull. It can also be used to address issues resulting from trauma or genetic deformations.
Who is a good candidate for otoplasty?
Otoplasty is one of the only plastic surgery procedures acceptable for children. In fact, it is commonly performed on children as young as five years old who are subject to bullying and other indignities resulting from misshapen or overly large ears.
Good candidates for this procedure should be generally healthy, nonsmokers, and prepared to follow all of our pre- and post-operative advice.
How long does recovery from otoplasty take?
Recovery is different for every individual, but in most cases, school or work can be resumed within seven days of your otoplasty surgery. Swelling may continue for up to three months, but can be minimized by closely following all of our care instructions.
