RECOVERING FROM A TUMMY TUCK

One of the most common questions we get from patients who are interested in enhancing their figure with a tummy tuck is what the recovery will be like. During your consultation with Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon Dr. David Mashhadian, you will discuss the details of your procedure and recovery, but in general you can plan for:

  • Getting plenty of rest. This doesn’t mean laying around all day. You should still walk around your house to get the blood flowing during your initial recovery, but you want to focus on giving your body time to heal and avoiding all strenuous activities.
  • Drinking plenty of fluids. Staying hydrating aids your body’s natural healing process.
  • Taking time off. You will want to refrain from work for one to two weeks. During this time you will experience swelling and bruising and will need to wear your compression garment and practice plenty of self care.
  •  Easing back into physical activity. You can gradually incorporate mild exercise into your routine after any drains have been removed. Dr. Mashhadian will clear you for these activities when it is time.
