What is BOTOX®?

When you smile, laugh, frown, furrow your brows in concentration, and perform many other repetitive facial expressions, that takes a toll on your skin in the form of dynamic wrinkles, like crow’s feet, laugh lines, brow furrows, or forehead lines. BOTOX® has become such a commonplace solution to reduce these wrinkles, there are so many med spas performing them. How do you know the best place to have BOTOX® treatments? Dr. David Mashhadian at Rodeo Surgical Art is a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon who takes BOTOX® treatment to the next level. How Does BOTOX® Work? You may have earned every one of your worry lines, but that doesn’t mean you want to display them at the expense of your youthful appearance. With BOTOX®, you can relax dynamic wrinkles by interrupting the muscle movements responsible for repetitive facial expressions. BOTOX® works by blocking nerve signals to muscles in your forehead, brows, around your eyes, and your mouth in a process called cosmetic denervation. Without regular muscle contractions, your skin has a chance to relax and repair skin cells damaged by repetitive facial expressions. Dr. Mashhadian’s skill, extensive training, and experience makes having BOTOX® treatments at Rodeo Surgical Art a better investment than at other med spas performing cosmetic denervation. We provide a full exam and skin evaluation in order to understand every detail of your cosmetic goals and your skin’s condition. Dr. Mashhadian himself performs BOTOX® treatments, not only to ensure the treatment meets his exacting standards but to answer every question and ensure you receive world-class care. Am I a Good Candidate? BOTOX® is one of the most studied cosmetic enhancement medications and has been proven safe time after time. Most people who desire a reduction in dynamic lines and wrinkles are good candidates for BOTOX® treatment, and Dr. Mashhadian can bring you natural results in a luxurious setting with high clinical standards of excellence. What is the Procedure Like? BOTOX® is administered in very small doses with micro-needles at Rodeo Surgical Art to achieve precision delivery for the most natural and effective results. Because the needles are very thin, there’s minimal discomfort with BOTOX® injections and they are well tolerated by most patients. Topical numbing cream is also available for maximum comfort. After your minimally invasive BOTOX® procedure, you’re free to resume your normal schedule, including driving. There may be some injection site tenderness or bruising, but this will resolve on its own in a couple of days. What Results Can I Expect? Results at Rodeo Surgical Art are what make our BOTOX® treatments a cut above the rest. Dr. Mashhadian uses advanced injection techniques to achieve the desired results, so you’re never left with a frozen or surprised appearance. BOTOX® takes up to 7 days to take full effect, after which your dynamic wrinkles begin to fade. You’re left with smooth skin and more youthful-looking features without sacrificing your expressive personality. While BOTOX® cannot minimize wrinkles caused by aging or sun damage, it can prevent expression-caused wrinkles from deepening, and can take years off your appearance. Seasoned patients find they need fewer units of BOTOX® less frequently the longer they have cosmetic denervation treatments, as the muscles become acclimated to the medication. If you’re sick of looking aged, stressed, and overtired when you really feel energetic and ready to take on the world, you can match your outward appearance to your inner energy in a 15-minute BOTOX® appointment at Rodeo Surgical Art. Dr. Mashhadian’s personalized boutique-style service is designed to give every patient his full attention with comprehensive treatment for all your cosmetic enhancement goals. How Long Will BOTOX® Cosmetic Last?

When wrinkles begin to creep into the corners of the eyes, across the forehead, and between the brows, it can really set off insecurity about how we’re aging. That’s why BOTOX® is the number one cosmetic enhancement procedure in the US. Wrinkles are the gateway to appearing older than we want and leave us asking what will age us next. That’s why Dr. David Mashhadian himself performs neurotoxin injections on patients—we want the best treatment to fight the signs of aging.   How Does BOTOX® Work? While smiling and laughing a lot are the hallmark of living a good life, they can still take a toll on our skin. The same is true with frowning or squinting. These dynamic facial movements cause the skin to fold repetitively, creating wrinkles and lines that don’t have the chance to repair themselves. BOTOX® and other neuromodulators like Dysport® and Xeomin® change all that by blocking the signals from the brain to the facial muscles via the nerves. Dr. Mashhadian has perfected the art of BOTOX® injections to ensure there is no overmedication which can result in a “frozen” or overly surprised look. The goal is to reduce muscle movement to give your skin a chance to renew and replace the damaged cells responsible for wrinkles, not freeze the muscles entirely. This allows you to maintain your natural, expressive appearance without compromising your youthful looks. How Long Does BOTOX® Last? There are factors that influence how long BOTOX® and other neuromodulator injections last. Men tend to need more units of the medication for their larger facial muscles. Men also tend to metabolize the medication faster than women. Seasoned BOTOX® recipients may also be able to prolong the time between appointments because their muscles have acclimated to the effects of the medication, so it wears off more slowly than when they first began treatments.   On average, patients can expect the effects of BOTOX® to take hold within 5-10 days of treatment and last for 3-5 months before another treatment is recommended to maintain results. You can plan on needing 2-3 BOTOX® treatments per year to continue enjoying the smooth, wrinkle free effects they offer. BOTOX® and other neuromodulators cannot prevent wrinkles that are caused by sun damage and other aging factors. Having BOTOX® injections is also a great prevention strategy for younger patients who haven’t yet begun to see the damage dynamic muscle movement can cause. Dr. Mashhadian has performed neuromodulator treatments on patients as young as those in their 20s to keep skin supple and youthful without letting the damage occur in the first place. If you’re concerned about the onset wrinkles, give us a call today.   Am I a Good Candidate? Neurotoxins are well-tolerated by most patients. So if you’ve noticed deepening wrinkles, crow’s feet, forehead lines, or brow furrows that are causing you concern, you may be an ideal candidate for a neuromodulator treatment like BOTOX®. What’s the Procedure Like? Dr. Mashhadian administers all injectable treatments himself to moderate the precise amount and placement of every injection. His extensive experience, critically aesthetic eye, and vast understanding of facial anatomy ensure the most effective BOTOX® treatment possible to maintain your natural, youthful features. The needle itself is tiny to improve patient comfort and give Dr. Mashhadian exacting control of the rate of injection. The procedure takes only 10-15 minutes and you’re free to resume your regular schedule.

BOTOX® VS Dermal Fillers: What is the Difference?

When the signs of age become noticeable, it can be difficult to know what aesthetic treatments will showcase your best features while still keeping your appearance natural and refreshed. Do you need neurotoxins like BOTOX® or would dermal fillers better suit you? Dr. David Mashhadian’s artistry and expertise with injectables can help you decide which treatment can keep you looking your best for years to come.   How Does BOTOX® Work? Neurotoxins such as BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® have a big impact without a lot of recovery time. When age begins to slow skin repair from dynamic muscle movement such as smiling and frowning, wrinkles form and contribute to an older, exhausted appearance. Neurotoxins can temporarily suspend muscle movement to allow the skin time to repair itself. Wrinkles between the brows, across the forehead, and around the eyes diminish, leaving patients looking younger and more vibrant. Using tiny needles with precise doses of the chosen neurotoxin, Dr. Mashhadian strategically pauses dynamic facial movement while still allowing your personality to shine through. There are no frozen, surprised, or overdone results at Rodeo Surgical Art. How Do Dermal Fillers Work? Dermal fillers such as Juvéderm®, Radiesse®, and Restylane® take a different approach to treating age-related concerns like wrinkles and volume loss. As time affects the viability of collagen fibers—the skin’s most vital support network—the skin can lose firmness and begin to sag. Fatty tissues can shift downward, leaving cheeks looking gaunt and eyes appearing hollow. These dermal fillers replace lost volume while also boosting collagen production to help your skin remain firm and supple, staying youthful for longer. Each of the dermal filler options used by Rodeo Surgical Art are made of hyaluronic acid (HA) molecules in different linked configurations which determine the consistency and viscosity of the gel. Thinner gels are used in delicate areas around the eyes or to plump lips, while thicker gels can restore lost cheek volume and elevate the tissues to a more youthful facial contour.     Am I a Good Candidate for Injectable Treatments? If signs of aging are getting ahead of your regular skincare routine, perhaps your youthful features can be restored with neurotoxin or dermal filler treatment at Rodeo Surgical Art. These procedures are safe for most anyone unhappy with wrinkles around their forehead, eyes, and mouth, or lost volume of the cheeks and lips. A consultation with Dr. Mashhadian can determine which treatment will best suit your aesthetic goals and facial features.   What’s the Procedure Like? Dr. Mashhadian performs all injectable treatments himself at Rodeo Surgical Art, so you get the benefit of his years of experience and extensive training in creating beautiful, natural results that preserve your youth, beauty, and personality. Local anesthetic is available for patients nervous about needles, and the dermal fillers at Rodeo Surgical Art all contain lidocaine to make each injection less painful than the one before. Precision injection techniques and exacting doses of each medication give Dr. Mashhadian’s patients a renewed appearance without fear of an overdone or plastic result. It’s normal to experience some injection site tenderness and bruising, but these will resolve in a few hours or a couple of days, depending on your treatment choice. Both neurotoxins and dermal fillers have a long track record of safety and efficacy when administered by a physician of Dr. Mashhadian’s talent and credentials. You should be back to your normal routine immediately following your appointment at Rodeo Surgical Art. What Results Can I Expect? With neurotoxin treatment, you’ll notice a visible reduction of dynamic wrinkles beginning 5-10 days following your injections, with smoother skin around your eyes and forehead. You can expect neurotoxin results to last 4-6 months before maintenance is necessary. Repeated treatments may prolong the time between sessions as muscles acclimate to the medication. Results with dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the formula and treatment area. They are a great semi-permanent way to look younger for longer without resorting to more invasive surgical procedures. Many patients in their 30s use dermal fillers as a preventative measure against aging and volume loss. The use of neurotoxins and dermal fillers, alone or in combination, can reverse years off your appearance and keep you looking young for longer than ever. They’re a great long-term solution to put off the need for a facelift or more invasive treatment. Let Rodeo Surgical Art help you stay more youthful for longer than ever with injectable treatments.

How Safe is BOTOX®?

When we think of botulinum toxin, we recognize it as one of nature’s deadliest bacterias responsible for potentially fatal food poisoning. So how could such a thing be a safe cosmetic medication? It may surprise you to learn that BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the safest medications on the market. It’s been studied for over 16 years and administered to millions of patients annually. When combined with Dr. David Mashhadian’s refined injection techniques, your BOTOX® treatment at Rodeo Surgical Art is nothing short of remarkable. How Does BOTOX® Work? Clinics all over the US and the world administer BOTOX® treatments for the reduction of dynamic wrinkle lines caused by repetitive facial expressions. The active ingredient in the medication, botulinum toxin Type A, interrupts your brain’s signals to the nerves in your forehead, brow, and eye muscles, temporarily suspending movement. This gives your skin a chance to repair skin cells and collagen fibers damaged by frowns, smiles, and intensely focused expressions. Within a week of your treatment, your skin will appear smoother, less aged, and you’ll have youthful skin textures where you need them most. But what makes Dr. Mashhadian and Rodeo Surgical Art stand out among the crowd with BOTOX® treatments? All BOTOX® treatments are administered by Dr. Mashhadian himself after a thorough examination and skin evaluation. His fellowship training in cosmetic surgery gives him a deeper understanding of facial anatomy and exactly to what depth and degree BOTOX® should be delivered to achieve the most natural results. There are no surprising or frozen-looking outcomes with Dr. Mashhadian’s BOTOX® treatments. He can also recommend BOTOX® in locations considered off-label but entirely safe to receive the medication for a more complete reduction of the signs of age. These treatment areas include: Lip lines (smoker’s lines) Wrinkles on the nose’s bridge (bunny lines) Crease under the nose, giving a slight nose tip lift Gummy smile Chin wrinkles (smooth away the orange peel effect) Jawline softening Neck banding Am I a Good BOTOX® Candidate? Only those who are pregnant, nursing, or have a history of allergy to BOTOX® Cosmetic’s ingredients should refrain from having treatment. Most everyone else can enjoy the benefits BOTOX® brings to their appearance. A consultation with Dr. Mashhadian can show you how beneficial BOTOX® can be for you. How Safe is BOTOX®? There have been more than 528 peer-reviewed articles concerning BOTOX® and its effectiveness and safety in scientific and medical journals since it was FDA-approved for cosmetic use in 2002. Much of BOTOX® Cosmetic’s safety depends on your provider. Thanks to its popularity, BOTOX® has been offered in salons and medical spas that haven’t always been the most well-qualified to administer the injections. This can increase the risk of complications with the medication, result in unwanted frozen results, or worse. The high demand for BOTOX® also makes the source of the medication suspect in these less-than-stellar places to have a medical procedure done. In some cases, the BOTOX® is diluted or is a poor imitation of genuine BOTOX® made by Allergan, so the patients aren’t getting what they’re seeking with results and safety. This is why you should always have a certified medical practitioner such as Dr. Mashhadian administer your BOTOX® treatments. He knows precisely where to place the BOTOX®, how much to administer, and how deeply to deliver the medication for the best results. Dr. Mashhadian will also use ultra-thin needles, so your treatment at Rodeo Surgical Art is as comfortable as we can make it. Topical anesthetic is available to our patients as well. The micro-doses of BOTOX® Dr. Mashhadian uses are no more or no less medication than you need to achieve your desired results. That is why choosing your BOTOX® specialist is critical to your satisfaction with the procedure. Is There Any Downtime After BOTOX®? BOTOX® may bring with it some tenderness at the injection site, bruising, headache, or mild swelling, but these don’t interfere with your routines or social commitments. They also subside on their own in a few hours or days. What Results Can I Expect? Most BOTOX® recipients will notice less motion in their expressions 3-4 days after their treatment, with the full effect taking place between 7-10 days. In the capable hands of Dr. Mashhadian, you’ll still be able to express yourself without the dramatic movements you’re used to. BOTOX® will suspend your dynamic movements for up to 5 months. Some seasoned patients whose muscles have acclimated to the medicine’s effects can prolong the time between their maintenance appointments. If you’re looking for BOTOX® treatment and you want the best, most natural results you can achieve, Dr. Mashhadian at Rodeo Surgical Art is waiting to hear from you. Set up a consultation today.
