IS BOARD CERTIFICATION IMPORTANT FOR A PLASTIC SURGEON?

When choosing a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, one of the most important factors that will separate the doctors is board certification. It’s important to understand what board certified means in order to choose the best surgeon for your procedures.

The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery certifies surgeons exclusively in cosmetic surgery. In order to achieve board certification, the doctor must:

  • Complete residency training and board certification in a surgical specialty, such as general surgery or oral surgery.
  • Complete a fellowship in cosmetic surgery or perform more than 1,000 documented cosmetic surgery procedures.
  • Perform at least 100 procedures after completing the fellowship.
  • Pass a two-day written and oral exam.

Board certification is your way of determining that your surgeon is experienced, skilled and committed to his craft. Dr. Mashhadian stays up-to-date in the field so that he can offer you the highest standard of care. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and has been appointed as a Board Examiner.
